Scholars participate in a variety of hands-on learning experiences and national programs throughout the year.

Future City Engineering Competition (Winter)

Students participate in the Future City Competition, researching real-world challenges and designing innovative cities that address global issues. Regional winners advance to the national competition in Washington, DC.

Model United Nations (Fall-Spring)

Through Model United Nations, scholars research global issues, represent countries, and collaborate with students from other schools to develop solutions to international challenges.

Plant the Moon Challenge (Fall–Spring)

Students explore space science and sustainability through participation in the Plant the Moon Challenge, conducting experiments to determine how crops can grow in lunar soil conditions.

Eat Green Grow Green Initiative (Spring)

Through the Academy’s Eat Green Grow Green program, scholars teach community members how to grow food in small spaces and explore sustainability, environmental science, and community problem solving.
